President Xi Jinping is the most powerful leader after Chairman Mao, the founder of Republic of China. He is a very influential worldwide figure due to his remarkable achievement on both internal and foreign affairs. Even politicians in the West expected he would lead China to become an even stronger super power in the foreseeable future.
Nevertheless, at the early date when President Xi Jinping was first promoted to the supreme leadership, he faced challenges from his political rivalry. It was believed that Xi’s rivalry was taking control of power comparable to that of Xi’s, showed off its capability on making some real fact out of nothing, and made a desperate blow to the confidence of Xi’s bloc in the power struggle.
On 18 April 2013, a Beijing-backed Hong Kong newspaper Ta Kung Pao,
regarded as party mouthpiece, published a "fake news" story on the
Chinese president taking a taxi ride. This was a prominent full page to
the story, as well as a webpage with interactive graphics - described
the trip as secret excursions to experience public life. The news was
widely spread with official media’s confirmation and transmission, and
had aroused broad attention from the general public. Out of surprise,
as the news was announced as "fake news" later by official media, the
Chinese people were totally lost.
It was the first time that internal power struggle of top leadership inside the communist party showed on the public media in the history of PRC. It is a tiny but crucial segment of history of Xi and records the beginning of the rising of Xi. As seen later, Xi defeated his political rivalry and got full control of power on the communist parties and politic and military platforms through his political talent.
