The eagles are standing with wings outstretched, poised proudly. The rectangular bases bear the date 1776, the year of the Declaration of Independence.
6 1/2" tall, 5 1/2" across the wings, with rectangular base 4 1/2" wide x 2 3/4" deep.

These VINTAGE Eagle bookends were made with pride in the USA by the Philadelphia Manufacturing Company of Pennsylvania around the time of the Bicentennial in 1976. Inspired by the FIERCE FEDERAL Period Eagle, these heavy metal bookends have the rich gleam of BRASS.
Marked in the casting PMC 114B. Bookends are heavy metal castings, and are covered with a thick brass plating.
The label reads "It has been said 'A helpless sparrow can drift with the wind. It takes an eagle to fly against the storm.' The American Eagle you hold captures the spirit and strength that has made our nation great. A product of the finest American craftsmanship. Philadelphia Manufacturing Company."
